Something Different!

Happy Saturday Everyone!

The sun is shining here in Doncaster! I haven't seen it all week so I am quite enjoying the rays this morning whilst drinking my morning cuppa!

Today I thought I'd share a card I made for a friends husband. It was his 50th birthday and she wanted something different for him! Apparently he loves playing darts and is in the local team, so that's where this idea came from!

First of all I embossed and glittered the numbers 50 and put them to one side. I found some brown, wood effect paper in my stash that I had completely forgot about. It fitted into my theme perfectly! I then lightly sanded it to give a more worn look.

I found some images on the internet of some old fashioned hinges which I copied and then cut out. I then attached the hinges onto the wood effect paper using some black brads, to give the impression of screws.

The numbers 50 where then attached in such a way as to hold the card closed

Inside I used some black card, marked using a white pencil, to give the impression of using white chalk on a chalk 'scoring board'. Then attached a glittery gold Happy birthday on one side. On the other side I made a beer jug and added some frothy topping! I used some snowtex, to give a 3d effect (can't see it clearly in the photo though!)

I then added some background paper and a dart board. A few gems and hey presto a dart board card was made!

I always get a little stuck with making men's cards, but was quite pleased with how this turned out! I believe he was also so pleased with it, he took it to the next darts match to show the lads!!!

I'm going to enter this card into the following challenges:

ABC Challenges - H for Happy Birthday
Cards for men - Boys and their Toys
Make it Monday - Anything goes
Truly Scrumptious - Something forgotten

Thanks so much for popping by and I hope that you like this slightly different card! Have a fabulous weekend!

The Golden years!

Morning Everyone,

Thanks so much for my lovely comments last week. It was fabulous to hear from you!
This week I have a birthday card that I made for a young lady who turned 80!!
I coloured the digi image using my prisma pencils and then lightly glittered the middle of the flowers (You can't see it very well on this photo!).
I then inked the edges of the paper and the image with Tim Holtz distressing ink.
I cut the 80 using my cuttlebug and then triple embossed the numbers with gold embossing powder.
The green ribbon edges are actually tucked under the card so there were no free edges sticking out. Just liked the look of it and thought I'd try it for a change.
The cream rose looked lost when I first put it on so it got some burgundy ink treatment to its edges to make it stand out. Lastly some gold corners just added that finishing touch!

Card Recipe
Image is a digi called 'Sweet Pea Flowers' from Priscilla Styles
Flowers and Lace from Wild Orchid Crafts
Ribbon from MeiFlower
Paper from Papermania (I've had it that long I can't remember the collection! sorry!)

Lastly I decorated the inside to complement the front. I coloured a second image as above, then cut the individual flowers out and made a smaller posy for the inside!

I'm going to enter this card into the following challenges:
Raise The Bar - Ring in the new year
2 Sisters Challenge - Embossing
The Pixie Cottage- Embossing
Make it Monday - Anything goes

Thanks for looking! Hope that you all have a great weekend! Its a bit of a windy one here today!!

New Beginnings

Hi Everyone,

Happy new year to you all and hope that 2012 brings you everything that you wish for!!!

Its been a busy start for me as I have just returned to work full time after almost 8 years of part time hours! Not quite sure how I'm going to fit everything in, but I'm sure that I'll find a way eventually!!!

Been browsing through the blogging world this morning and there are some fantastic cards out there for the start of 2012!

I've decided, that for my first card challenge this year, I'm going to enter the first ever 'Lili's Little Fairies' New Beginnings Challenge'! It just seems so appropriate for my current new start too!!!

I made this card for my daughter's teacher who recently got married, another new beginning! I wish them lots of happiness!

My card Recipe

Image is 'Wedding Couple' from Lili of the Valley
Flowers and Heart pins from Wild Orchid Crafts
Sentiment from Little Claire Designs
Embellishments and Ribbon from various Craft shows

Here's a close up of the image that I coloured using mainly Prisma pencils, but the skin was coloured using my promarkers! I accented her dress using some clear microbeads. They just glistened beautifully when the light caught them and made a change to using glitter!

Here's a sneak peak at the inside that I decorated to compliment the outside

Just thought I'd add this one too! It's my little Jack Russel, Cassy, trying to muscle in on the action! Think she's my biggest fan!!!

Hope that you like my latest post, I promise to keep up this year! It's one of my many new year resolutions!!

Lots of hugs and new year best wishes
