Spring Flowers for Gran

Evening everyone! Happy Spring equinox!
Its officially spring and almost weekend and boy I can't wait!

I actually managed to leave work a bit earlier this afternoon to take my young lady to the doctors...nothing too drastic just an infection and antibiotics to clear it up! Pretty sure she'll be back to normal and giving me even more cheek by the end of the weekend! LOL
(Also gave me some extra time to catch up on my blogging!
Shhhh ;-))

Anyway my card this week is one that I made for Mother's day, for my Gran. An amazing lady who loves the cards that Mom and I have made for her. She loves them that much that she has proudly displayed them in frames around her bungalow!

The Image is a digi from from Tiffany's Garden called 'Dogwood branch'.
Its coloured using my promarkers and prisma pencils for some extra highlights. I spent ages colouring this image and was really pleased with the finished image. I used the colours in the background papers for inspiration!

The papers are from Papermania and the sentiment is from Lili of the Valley.

The flowers and lace were from Wild Orchid Crafts.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Thanks so much for popping by and I hope that your spring is full of sunshine... and not like the rain we've had here in Doncaster today!

2 Little Girls - a special friendship

Hiya Everyone,

Thanks so much for coming to visit last week, it really cheered me up as its been a busy week again at work but at least its now the weekend!!

Today's card is one I made for my beautiful Mom. We have an amazing Mom/Daughter relationship but the best thing about it all is that she is also my bestest friend in the whole wide world! (and my biggest blog fan! Haha) Love you Mommy!!!

The image is from Lili of the Valley called 'Summer days'. Here's a close up of the image, coloured with Promarkers and Prisma pencils

The papers are also from Lili of the Valley and part of their amazing collection, called 'Petal fresh'. The papers in the pack just match together perfectly and are fabulous to use!

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts, roses, carnations and chrysanthemums, as is the lace.

The butterfly is from my stash of goodies, bought from one of many a craft fair trips!

The inside was decorated with matching papers and a few pearls but I can't seem to remember where I bought the quote from though. Have a feeling it may be one of Mom's that I 'borrowed'! (Haha, love you Mom!)

I've decided to enter this card into the following challenges

Thanks again for stopping by, I'm off to visit you all now! Have a fabulous spring sunshine filled weekend!

A fresh start and new challenges!

Hiya everyone

Wow, I can't believe how long its been since I was last on blogger! Its been a busy few years but I am now trying to ensure that I make some time for myself!! A hard task but someone has to do it so it may as well be me! LOL

Work has been, well still is, manic. My teenage daughter is being a typical teenager and forever keeping me on my toes if not on the edge of them!

Think the puppy dog is also going through the teenage years... again, at 5 years old. She is so cheeky and yet so adorable at the same time!

I have still been making the odd cards here and there, mainly just for family. Still spending a fortune on new stash though...Mom and I are always at the craft shows and visiting our many friends in the crafting world!

So that leads me onto my card. Its one I made a while ago but fits in with the 2 challenges I have entered it into, namely ABC Challenge - F is for Flowers and Make it Monday

The image was from Saturated Canary called Violet, coloured using promarkers and prisma pencils. The flowers are from Wild orchid crafts. The little flower charm was recycled from a broken necklace that I had. Far to pretty to throw away and looked beautiful on this card!

Here's a sneak peak inside...

Decorated the same as the outside but with lots of gems!

So that's all from me for now, best get making some new cards for some new challenges! Can't wait!!!

Something Different!

Happy Saturday Everyone!

The sun is shining here in Doncaster! I haven't seen it all week so I am quite enjoying the rays this morning whilst drinking my morning cuppa!

Today I thought I'd share a card I made for a friends husband. It was his 50th birthday and she wanted something different for him! Apparently he loves playing darts and is in the local team, so that's where this idea came from!

First of all I embossed and glittered the numbers 50 and put them to one side. I found some brown, wood effect paper in my stash that I had completely forgot about. It fitted into my theme perfectly! I then lightly sanded it to give a more worn look.

I found some images on the internet of some old fashioned hinges which I copied and then cut out. I then attached the hinges onto the wood effect paper using some black brads, to give the impression of screws.

The numbers 50 where then attached in such a way as to hold the card closed

Inside I used some black card, marked using a white pencil, to give the impression of using white chalk on a chalk 'scoring board'. Then attached a glittery gold Happy birthday on one side. On the other side I made a beer jug and added some frothy topping! I used some snowtex, to give a 3d effect (can't see it clearly in the photo though!)

I then added some background paper and a dart board. A few gems and hey presto a dart board card was made!

I always get a little stuck with making men's cards, but was quite pleased with how this turned out! I believe he was also so pleased with it, he took it to the next darts match to show the lads!!!

I'm going to enter this card into the following challenges:

ABC Challenges - H for Happy Birthday
Cards for men - Boys and their Toys
Make it Monday - Anything goes
Truly Scrumptious - Something forgotten

Thanks so much for popping by and I hope that you like this slightly different card! Have a fabulous weekend!

The Golden years!

Morning Everyone,

Thanks so much for my lovely comments last week. It was fabulous to hear from you!
This week I have a birthday card that I made for a young lady who turned 80!!
I coloured the digi image using my prisma pencils and then lightly glittered the middle of the flowers (You can't see it very well on this photo!).
I then inked the edges of the paper and the image with Tim Holtz distressing ink.
I cut the 80 using my cuttlebug and then triple embossed the numbers with gold embossing powder.
The green ribbon edges are actually tucked under the card so there were no free edges sticking out. Just liked the look of it and thought I'd try it for a change.
The cream rose looked lost when I first put it on so it got some burgundy ink treatment to its edges to make it stand out. Lastly some gold corners just added that finishing touch!

Card Recipe
Image is a digi called 'Sweet Pea Flowers' from Priscilla Styles
Flowers and Lace from Wild Orchid Crafts
Ribbon from MeiFlower
Paper from Papermania (I've had it that long I can't remember the collection! sorry!)

Lastly I decorated the inside to complement the front. I coloured a second image as above, then cut the individual flowers out and made a smaller posy for the inside!

I'm going to enter this card into the following challenges:
Raise The Bar - Ring in the new year
2 Sisters Challenge - Embossing
The Pixie Cottage- Embossing
Make it Monday - Anything goes

Thanks for looking! Hope that you all have a great weekend! Its a bit of a windy one here today!!

New Beginnings

Hi Everyone,

Happy new year to you all and hope that 2012 brings you everything that you wish for!!!

Its been a busy start for me as I have just returned to work full time after almost 8 years of part time hours! Not quite sure how I'm going to fit everything in, but I'm sure that I'll find a way eventually!!!

Been browsing through the blogging world this morning and there are some fantastic cards out there for the start of 2012!

I've decided, that for my first card challenge this year, I'm going to enter the first ever 'Lili's Little Fairies' New Beginnings Challenge'! It just seems so appropriate for my current new start too!!!

I made this card for my daughter's teacher who recently got married, another new beginning! I wish them lots of happiness!

My card Recipe

Image is 'Wedding Couple' from Lili of the Valley
Flowers and Heart pins from Wild Orchid Crafts
Sentiment from Little Claire Designs
Embellishments and Ribbon from various Craft shows

Here's a close up of the image that I coloured using mainly Prisma pencils, but the skin was coloured using my promarkers! I accented her dress using some clear microbeads. They just glistened beautifully when the light caught them and made a change to using glitter!

Here's a sneak peak at the inside that I decorated to compliment the outside

Just thought I'd add this one too! It's my little Jack Russel, Cassy, trying to muscle in on the action! Think she's my biggest fan!!!

Hope that you like my latest post, I promise to keep up this year! It's one of my many new year resolutions!!

Lots of hugs and new year best wishes

Teenage boys

Hiya everyone,

Mom is putting me to shame in the blogging world so I thought I had better try and catch up!

I made this card for a young lad who bought his dream Harley Davidson motor bike for his 18th birthday! He'd been saving for years I believe! Congrats to him!

The Harley Davidson Image is from their website I think. It just matched the colours that I wanted to use. I then spritzed the whole image with a gold spray to add a little more shimmer to the card! The paper is from a Papermania  I think. I then added some red and gold gems to compliment the colour scheme.

The number 18 is cut out of cardboard using my cuttlebug, then triple embossed with red tinsel embossing powder.

The image that I used is from Kenny K. She is called Racy Roxie! I loooove his images. There is always one available to fit just about any occasion!!

Here is a close up of the image I coloured, using promarkers and Prisma Pencils. I used glossy accents on her glasses and her shoes!

I decorated the inside of the card to compliment the outside!

I want to enter this card into the Cupcake Crafts Challenge - Teenage boys!

Hope that you like it, and many thanks for stopping by! Sorry its been so long since I've posted!!!!!!!!!!

Big hugs
